THE ILLUSION OF CHOICE
Two fish kept circling in the tank, repeating the same path day after day. That day, I stared at them for a long time and realized, they didn’t need a reason. They were just alive.
But what about me? What about us? We like to believe we have endless choices, that everything we do is guided by “free will.” But when the moment comes to choose, why is there always a pause? As if the script had already been written, and we’re just here to act it out. Someone told me, “I said no, but no one listened.” Another said, “So many choices, weren’t they all already chosen for me?” I started to wonder if it’s not that we lack choices. Maybe we’re just trapped in a system that only allows us to choose. But the real question is, do you have the right not to choose at all?
Maybe… we’re just another kind of fish.
